Hi Angela -

The newer versions of Merlin actually do allow you to save the recording. After you touch the Stop button, at the upper right there is a rather faint button to Save. This allows you to decide whether to save a recording after getting a chance to listen to it (vs. the old version which forced you to choose whether to save or just stop the recording on the spot).

I must admit to forgetting to touch Save and starting a new recording, sometimes losing a good recording...so it took me a while to get used to this new functionality!

I hope this info. helps.

At 7:08 a visiting Carolina Wren with the most elaborate song - twitters, trills, chirrups, chirps and tea-kettles etc (sadly I discovered Merlin does not record). In the same scraggly lilac bush outside my window at the same time we’re also 2 house wrens, a chestnut-sided warbler, yellow redstart, chickadee, catbird, a goldfinch and a glimpse of possible blue-gray gnatcatcher. Then a hummingbird flew up and checked me out for over 10 seconds, inches from my face. You may not believe this but it is all true!Angela Dimmitt New Milford
