Hi folks,
For the past few years, our team has placed second or third in the annual Colorado Birding Challenge. We had a great time in Gilpin County in 2024 and we *almost* won it all in Clear Creek County last year. This year, we are pulling out all the stops.
In my opinion, Dolores County is the best county in Colorado. As a matter of objective fact, it is the most underappreciated county, at least when it comes to birding. Birders from the Front Range don't often visit, which might have something to do with the seven-hour drive, but all seven hours are worth it.
This year we are once again bringing back our signature gimmick. *If you donate to the Dolores Dippers, you will get a bird named after you.* (How this works: we take photos of the birds we see during the Challenge and name each one after a donor, e.g., "this one looks like a Kyle." Yes, you will get a photo.)
Good luck to all the teams who will be birding less beautiful and interesting counties on Saturday for the same worthy cause!
