We came prepared for anything......Another 100+ Wilson's Warblers? A whole
bunch of the 120 from yesterday getting caught again? Instead a relatively
calm/welcome day, with "only" 44 new WIWAs and a total of 65 new birds. We
were especially surprised at the low number of recaptures - only 7 of the
120 from yesterday were caught again, suggesting that most had found
sufficient food yesterday to move on last night.
So, today we enjoyed looking at the birds and sharing them with our
visitors! (Big days are both an adrenaline rush and give us
hope......Wilson's must have had a very good breeding season......but it
reduces the opportunity to focus on each individual lovely bird.)
Here's the breakdown of today's 65 new birds:
