New York County -in N.Y. City- including Governors, Randalls, Roosevelt, and Manhattan islands and the adjacent waters and sky -
Tuesday, September 1st -
No Ibis of any kind were noted from the county on Tuesday, with some observers checking the area where one was the day prior, as well as other potentially-good Ibis habitats. A Yellow-breasted Chat was the latest of that species sighted this season in the county, on Governors Island on Tuesday. Also seen there was Savannah Sparrow, along with a variety of expected migrants or summer resident birds.
Rather early for this county, a Blue-headed Vieeo was reported at Central Park. There were only about 15 species of warblers noted for the county on the 1st of September, perhaps in part with the weather limiting the observations somewhat. Some Warbler spp. were still found in fair to good numbers. Shorebirds of at least 6 species were again noted from the county.
Nocturnal migration was up to at least modest pace over the region on Tuesday night going into Wed. early morning, with a broad array of species noted in nocturnal flight call observations.
