Nighthawks know the calendar. Now that September is here the peak of migration has passed and numbers will dwindle this week until they reach zero on or about the 7th. As in Concord, all birds were southbound into a SE or SW wind. Coolest temperatures of the season may have contributed to the lower count. Almost all birds were counted by 6:00.
