Weather: Hazy with a chance of ants. 77-86 degrees F, light WSW wind
Raptor Observations: Low clouds and haze made for a very low flight line today.
Non-raptor Observations: Big, big nuptial flight of ants today. Great swirling masses of tens of thousands of insects, if not more, filled the entire sky - and every hole in my face. The chaos lasted most of the morning, and thankfully eased up once raptors started moving.
Songbirds loved it though. I saw almost half a dozen blackburnian and black-throated green each, along with bay-breasted, parula, least flycatcher, pewee, red-eyed vireo, scarlet tanager, baltimore oriole, ovenbird, and more helping themselves to the feast.
Predictions: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 75. East wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.
