Thanks to the very able assistance from both Kathy Wheeler and Randy Langer, more birds were counted than would have been on a solo try. Randy's instructions were simple: when counting a big group, every time you hit 100 yell out "one hundred!" then count anew. I mark and "X" in the book. Sure enough he sniffed out a big group and in came the "one hundred"s, twice. This was planning and execution the military would be envious of.
We also had a nice visit from Denise and Maria who got to see at least some birds close overhead as the count slowed way down after 6:00. They bulk of the count was between 4:30 and 6:00.
Season total = 6,805, now exceeding last year's total.
