A couple of our local birders found some uncommon to rare birds recently in the Fort Smith area. Pam Carney found three juvenile White Ibis roosting with Cattle Egrets on the Crawford County side of the Arkansas River at Van Buren. They were on a snag in the river. Eagle-eyed Matt Matlock found a juvenile Cave Swallow hanging with Cliff Swallows on a snag at Frog Bayou WMA at Ozark Lake/Dyer Bay on the Arkansas River. Tis the season for wanderers.

PS. A reminder. Birding in and Around Fort Smith is hosting a field trip to Sunnymede Park and Carol Ann Cross Park right here in town on September 12.
