This is a really BIG issue and so I write to you all once again for your support.
The push to rescind the 2001 Roadless Rule by the US Forest Service poses a significant threat to places like the White Mountain National Forest, and public engagement ahead of the September 21, 2026 deadline is critical. And, incredibly, you can comment!!
And don’t just write ‘I’m against’ or ‘I’m for'. That means NOTHING to them and your comment will be trashed. They require an explanation as to why you are against or why you are for. Ground your position in tangible concerns regarding recreation, erosion, loss of wilderness character, and heavy industrial logging impacts. Mention water quality, carbon sequestration, protection of endangered species habitats (like the Northern Long-eared Bat), birds, wildlife, and the economic value of unfragmented backcountry recreation to New Hampshire’s TOURISM ECONOMY.
If this goes through, accept that some of your cherished places in the WMNF that have been protected for decades could be logged and roads built through.
