I stopped by Gahanna Woods in the morning with Diana, and we had some migrants, though not large numbers. Later in the afternoon, I took a page from Bob McNulty's book and visited Woodside Green Park and had more migrants, despite the lateness of the day. The south parts of Woodside Green and the neighboring Big Walnut Trail seemed the most productive. Highlights included: *Gahanna Woods*: Red-headed Woodpecker E.Wood Pewees Acadian Flycatchers Red-eyed Vireos Cedar Waxwings (flocks) Redstarts, Blackburnian, and Chestnut-sided Warblers
On a different note, the old Gahanna High School was demolished over the Summer, obliterating a good chimney that was a consistent swift roost. I was wondering where most of them would end up and had an answer tonight, with a sizeable roost (300 birds) at the Northeast School, across from tiny Sycamore Run Park and about a half mile north of the old High School roost site. 10 Nighthawks cruising the surrounding field was an added bonus.
