Another quiet day of birds on the Ranch. We had some quality, regardless of not much quantity. First of the season birds were Common Yellowthroat and Olive-sided Flycatcher. Anyone ever observing an Olive-sided Flycatcher up close would say Wow! what a beak on that bird! The better to catch insects with my dear! *16 New Banded Birds* Wilson's Warbler- 1 Yellow Warbler- 1 Common Yellowthroat- 1 N. House Wren- 1 Western Wood-Pewee- 2 Least Flycatcher- 1 Olive-sided Flycatcher- 1 Western Tanager- 1 Gray Catbird- 2 Yellow-breasted Chat- 1 Red-breasted Nuthatch- 2 Brown Thrasher- 2
*3 Recaptures* Gray Catbird- gained wt. from original banding date Western Flycatcher- gained wt from original banding date N. House Wren- stayed the same wt.
The banding station will be closed tomorrow and reopen on Monday at sunrise. You may visit the ranch tomorrow by registering online at Aiken Audubon website www.aikenaudubon.com Hoping for a good migration wind to blow next week. Who knows? Only time will tell. Have a great Weekend!
