Bob and I wandered around in the Catalinas this morning for a few hours, mainly on Mt. Bigelow and Bear Wallow Rds. Birding was on the thin side until we headed down Bear Wallow Rd. At a place where a pipe goes under the road, birds were enjoying the water at the outflow. We ended up with 19 species there and it was tough to head on towards home for fear we'd miss something.
The highlights: Bushtit flock, three nuthatch species, Hermit and Townsend's warblers, Wilson's warblers, Plumbeous Vireo, Mountain Chickadees, and several Brown Creepers.
