Biggest night of the season thus far at Powder Mill Pond in Hancock, with a flight of 1,316 southbound birds - mainly in two pushes, initially a few hundred between 520-530 pm, then between 615-730 with directional flight noted during those times. In between, we had dozens to hundreds of birds in the sky gliding up on thermals, soaring into the wind, and presumably foraging high over the surrounding pond and wetlands. This pushes our season tally up to 3,577 so far. No lollipops here; only rainbows and the resident porcupine.
