Date: 8/27/26 12:39 pm From: Chicobander <jshieldcastle...> Subject: [cobirds] Chico Basin Ranch Banding Station Report- August 27, 2026
Today, species diversity at the station was good. Twenty-three species banded with seven new species for the season. Those included: Least Flycatcher, Swainson's Thrush, Spotted Towhee, Red-winged Blackbird, Bullock's Oriole, Clay-colored Sparrow, and Ladder-backed Woodpecker. The Oriole was a surprise since most all should be farther south on their way to Central America. Once again the migrant recaptures today gained at least a half a gram each. Plenty of insect food available for them.
