If you haven't been following eBird daily reports you may have missed that there's a Red Crossbill irruption occuring across much of Kansas. I spent some time today mapping which counties the confirmed eBird sightings were in but also noting the first confirmed report for each county. I did this with the big irruption in 2017-18 which was a more typical late summer, fall and winter situation. I will let others speculate on the cause of the current irruption.
Anyway, reports are still coming in from various counties, mainly in the western half of the state and as reports come in from new counties I will updated those on the page. The page can be accessed at:
