A Yellow-breasted Chat is a confirmed sighting at the Central Park Ramble on Saturday, Aug. 22.
Also found later on that same day was an in-park find at the reservoir, of a rare in this park Lesser Yellowlegs, with photos from D.J. Ringer, and this bird happily was present again on Sunday, 8-23 still at the C.P. Reservoir. High-power optics of some type can be helpful, esp so with birds far into the middle sectors of the reservoir.
As to warblers in migration, some fairly good arrival, while there also was much fly-by nocturnal migration on Sat. night. Cape May Warblers were among species turning up and with that species, up to 21 additional species of warblers were found on Sunday alone - this for all of the park, and for all day, rather than any small subset of area or time during all of Sunday, and with far more than 100 independent observers and photographers out and about from dawn to dusk hours.
Common Nighthawks are again passing thru, as are further Yellow-billed Cuckoos. And as expected, dozens more of a variety of migrant birds moving south. A fair to good number of migrants are also being seen in multiple other parks and greenspaces around Manhattan, all this month and increasingly thru the recent weekend.
Arrivals of Green-winged Teal and recent additions of N. Shoveler add to the ongoing Wood Ducks and other typical waterfowl present. Some shorebird spp beyond the rare here Lesser-legs have included Least, Spotted in the multiple, and Solitary Sandpipers.
A Virginia Rail was seen at Central Park back on Aug. 16.

For many, there was no new sighting on Sunday of the Lark Sparrow seen Saturday at Sherman Creek Park, in upper Manhattan… it seems likely that that bird, confirmed for Sat., may have placed more area birders at Sherman Creek by Sunday than had been noted in that modestly sized park before. Northern Manhattan does receive very good coverage by multiple experienced birders, still it is a part of Manhattan deserving of even greater scrutiny at essentially all times of year.
