Subject: [EBB-Sightings] Bar-tailed and Marbled Godwits

For those planning to look for the Bar-tailed Godwit at Hayward Shoreline, here's a link to a comparison shot showing the Bar-tailed foraging near our familiar Marbled Godwit.

The differences are striking: the Bar-tailed is a little guy, notably smaller than the Marbled, and it has white underparts and a strong supercilium the Marbled lacks. And its plumage is generally paler than its cousin. The rare godwit has been seen from the GPS coordinates reported by its finders, Will Brooks and Dallas Levey (37.648242, -122.155189).
