Hello all,
As part of a forthcoming paper documenting an instance of Cliff Swallows nesting on natural cliff faces in a private grassland property in Sacramento County, Zane Pickus and l are seeking records anyone may have of this species nesting on natural substrate on the valley floor. Cliff Swallows often nest on man-made infrastructure such as bridges, buildings, and dams, but instances of the species nesting on natural cliffs are quite rare in this region. Of particular interest are any nesting efforts, successful or otherwise, that occurred in grassland ecosystems. Specific information on the dates and timing of such efforts would also be helpful if available.
Thanks for any help, Julian Johnson Placerville, CA
