Subject: [Tweeters] July 2026 TUVU report
Good afternoon, Tweets
It's not quite the doldrums but things do move a bit slower in mid-summer, including turkey vultures. Not quite ready to leave for a while but busy tending juvies of the year and just relaxing. The July report is from Washington, Idaho and British Columbia.
JULY
02 -- One turkey vulture along Hwy 97 four miles north of Omak at 08:53, Okanogan County.
08 – One above Hihium Lake, BC, (w of Kamloops then, n of Cache Creek), el.4,480 ft. at 17:33.
12 – One soaring south over mid-Vashon Island at 15:00, King County.
14 – One above Riverside Golf Course in Chehalis at 15:22, Lewis County.
16 – Six turkey vultures, maybe more, soaring with a few bald eagles over North Peapod Island (Lat. 48°38'31.51"N; Long. 122°44'43.51"W), seen from a boat of the Salish Sea School, there were Harbor Seals w/pups so might have been food attracting them, San Juan County (photo).
17 – Six at Freshwater Bay at 10:05, Clallam County.
18 – Thirteen turkey vultures at the Wickershm area of the Samish River at 14:11, Whatcom.
21 – One flying over SR 532 in Stanwood at about 13:30, Snohomish County.
28 – One along I-90 about a mile west of George at 12:07, Grant County; one along Hwy 95, just north of Bonner’s Ferry, Idaho, Boundary County; 4 along Hwy 95, just north of Fort Steele at 19:28, East Kootenay, BC
29 – One flying above Cartwright Lake at 12:01, East Kootenay BC.
30 – One along Hwy 95, 5 miles north of Skookumchuck at 16:32, East Kootenay, BC.
Thank you for the great reports. I imagine August will be about the same but they will be starting on their way south towards the end of the month. Have a good rest of your summer.
Cheers, Diann
