I counted well over 100 Baird's sandpipers on 2 rapidly drying ponds at Swanson Lakes and Reardan in Lincoln County during shorebird surveys last weekend. Most wetlands are dry and migratory shorebirds appear to be congregating in large numbers at what water and mud remains. They appeared to be juveniles. I've never seen so many BASA in Eastern Washington. It's been amazing seeing the species waves coming through.
