Pardon my confusion, of the Bobwhite and the Bobolink.
The Bobwhite and the Bobolink
Are birds so seemingly distinct
Therefore, I was not amused
For one with the other I was confused
An Icterid, the eye can see
Is not an Odontophoridae
In one, a reversed tuxedo tail
While the other is a lovely quail
Searching Sibley who the expert Brahman
Cites preference for pasture common
And likely found in Eastern ranges
To spot in the West, a likely strangeness
As both are sadly in decline
Any sighting brings a happy sign
And so forgive the mistaken switch
resulting in a error for which
Excitement, making one’s heart throb
I mistook the bird with the name of bob.
