Today I noticed an adult Royal Tern (Thalasseus maximus) at San Gregorio State Beach. It was standing near but not with a small flock of Elegant Terns just south of the creek mouth. Noticeably bigger and stockier with a heavier less curved bill than nearby Elegant Terns.
