This morning, about 645, I managed to get bins on an orange crowned warbler but it was still a bit dark son didn’t see much else. With tea and camera in hand, I managed to get out and sit while the sprinklers were active. I was greeted to a lovely rufous hummingbird bathing as the sprinkler cycled over its perch. What a treat! I don’t think I’ve had this many rufous hummingbirds in the yard on consecutive days.
The usual year round residents also bathed in the wet leaves - black-capped and chestnut chickadees, re-breasted nuthatches, a golden-crowned kinglet and juncos.
A bit later, to my surprise, I spotted a Townsend’s warbler gleaning insects in my neighbor’s birch. No yellow warblers today, at least not yet. A black-headed grosbeak continues to visit a feeder.
