At 3:48 this morning, an UPLAND SANDPIPER flew over my house in Homer. Unfortunately, I slept through it, but birdNET recorded the trilling call (raw and filtered versions included in the eBird list below). Despite all the false-positives any AI produces, I’ve only had one previous detection in 2.5 years of near continues listening (which I dismissed because I could not verify it myself amongst the crossbill chatter). eBird only has two previous records for the Kenai Peninsula (one from Anchor Point on 15 August 2022). Shorebirds are on the move!
