Steve Hampton,
I just tried to find the PM nestboxes at Crockett Lake - using Google
Earth - and was
unable to locate them/anything that looked like it might be them. Can
you direct me
to the part of Crockett Lake the Purple Martin boxes are located?
All,
There is an established PM colony at Ship Harbor in Anacortes (Wa
State Ferry dock to
the San Juan Islands). The PMs have been coming there for a long time.
IIRC there is another PM colony at English Boom on Camano.
I took a "Puffing Tour" out of Skyline Marina Sunday. The seas to
get to Smith Island
were 10 foot swells so we did not go to Smith. We did see a -few-
Rhinocerous Auklets
(maybe 10?) and a good number of Pidgeon Guillemots (over 30, perhaps
even 50) in
Burrows Pass in groups of 1,2, to as many as 6 or more.

Skagit
