For over an hour, Nick Lethaby and I sorted through every small sandpiper that we could find at Area K last evening. We did not turn up a Semipalmated Sandpiper. The area is drying up fast and we noticed a definite decrease in the Egrets that have been hunting there, as well as fewer Greater Yellowlegs and Black-necked Stilts. Meanwhile, the number of Kildeer seems to have increased.
Best we can hope for at this point is that we'll get another Semi-palm somewhere else this season.
