I assume it is since I received your message, Jeannine. It is really
too bad. I enjoy hearing the stories from others that really aren't
appropriate for Discord or even Facebook, but I think the loss of
those can be blamed on so many things. We are busy; so much of birding
is online now with ebird and Merlin, Discord and Facebook. It is sad,
to me, that most of those things are sort of void of the emotions of
birding. I lost my long time significant other this past January and I
miss the little things of birding that I shared with him: seeing a
Sandhill Crane in a field on my way home from grocery shopping,
stopping at the local park and hearing the rattle of a Kingfisher. It
saddens me that with all of the electronic sharing of sightings, we
have lost listserves like this where we shared the joy.
