Jane Lester posted a picture of what appears to be a young Yellow crowned Night Heron in Wears Creek today, Jefferson City. Nancy H identified the bird while Shirley Seabaugh and I went out and found it this evening. It seemed to me to match the first year bird found in the nat geo guide. It was in the creek across from the Jefferson City High School soccer fields on Stadium Drive. You can park on Mesa Drive.
