- Coal Oil Point Natural Reserve--Devereux Lagoon, Santa Barbara, California

- Comments: "A continuing bird reported August 2 by Nick Lethaby. The submitted photos show the orange facial skin coming to a point at an acute angle and bordered by a very thin faint white line, and no yellow on the lore.

This bird was perched in a tree on the left (south) side of the pullout at the half bridge and was photographed from this location:
(34.4116231, -119.8770116)

It was first seen at 8:05 AM and then flew off alone at 8:14 down the slough toward the beach."

Red-eyed Vireo (Vireo olivaceus) (1) CONFIRMED
- Reported Aug 08, 2026 07:06 by Joe Rothstein
- San Jose Creek--North of Cathedral Oaks, Santa Barbara, California

- Comments: "See photos and audio.

Along La Josa Road. Just east of the creek, in a mix of live oak and avocado trees: (34.45874,-119.80870).

Sang briefly a few times but it was more distant at that point so audio quality is poor.

Presumably a continuing bird, reported most recently yesterday morning. It briefly seemed possible that there were two individuals in the same tree although I think that's unlikely given their rarity here."

- Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S381277148
- Comments: "Female or young male, with minimal blackish wash across face below dark eye line. Creeping along tipu branches in southwestern most tree in complex."
