I spent some time at this spot around 5 p.m. today. The place is changing rapidly, with a good section of the eastern end of the wetland now almost dry. This resulted in more shorebird activity in the middle of the wetland, but also pushed the Egret community down to the front of the wetland, where they are hard to see from above.
Dominant species are still Black-necked Stilts and Greater Yellowlegs. I found also found 1 Lesser Yellowlegs, Kildeer, 2 Dowitchers and one each Wilson's and Red-necked Plovers. In the far pod nearer the runway, I could make out at least a half dozen Phalaropes on the water, but the distance and heat haze was such that I could not determine the species, even at highest power through my scope.
I did not re-find the Solitary Sandpiper I saw at this location on Wednessday morning.
