I have been lax at posting all my atlasing work for the summer, and it's too much to list here now unfortunately, but I did think I'd share a few things for my home county, after posting for Warren.
On Tuesday the 28th, after I had neglected it all summer, we finally made it out to Wyman Rd at Mt Zion/Piney tract area to check for whips. Even as late as it is, we did find two after 9:15, one didn't call but came right out on the road and dusted a while in front of us, then flew around us a short bit and went out of sight. Further down at the end of Stockdill Rd we did have one still singing. So I would imagine they were probably here in good numbers through the summer as the habitat on this road remains excellent for them.
We had great numbers of baltimore and orchard orioles also for the summer, and I was able to confirm both. Baltimores still remain, adults look to be molting now maybe, and young ones still evident. They continue to use the jelly feeder periodically and the suet as well. This morning when I made a quick run up to the hilltop field where we have a little garden, I had a Henslow's sparrow singing, perched up on a small honeysuckle. I was shocked to hear it though I have had them in this field off and on for years, none in the last two though. I've spent so much time away atlasing that it could have easily been here weeks and I just missed it. I have found that when they are present in smaller patches, they seem to sing less often than when they are in high density numbers like at Piney. Either way I still got to code it as an S for the farm, nice way to start the day !
