Not necessarily heading south yet. From the satellite transmitter data I
have seen, upland sandpipers do a fair amount of post-breeding movements
before heading south. Maybe checking out alternatives for next breeding
season? I've not seen a paper discussing that data, so I throwing it out
there speculating.
