Hello MassBird Community,
My name is Jane and I am a local birder in Quincy. Yesterday, I spent about
3 hrs stumbling around Burrage Pond Wildlife Management Area looking for
the Sandhill Cranes.
Unfortunately I didn't see them, but I did see a Green Heron, Marsh Wren,
and a Broad Winged Hawk, amongst others.
I would like to go back and try to see them again this week, and am
wondering if anyone who has seen them before might be able to point me in
the right direction of where to look (from a respectful distance)? I don’t
take photos, I just birdwatch.
I saw an eBird sighting 7/26 “two in the old bog to the left” and “Opposite
the EPO station” but am not sure what/where the EPO is. I’ve also seen “at
the north end of the north reservoir.”
Anyway, any tips on the most likely location/time of day would be helpful
or coordinates on the map. I parked at the train tracks parking lot.
