Subject: Donation of Zeiss binoculars needing repair?
Good afternoon listserv,
I am wondering if anyone is aware of a location or organization that
repairs and donates used binoculars to schools, nature centers, or other
programs. I have a pair of Zeiss Terra ED 8x42 binoculars that are out of
alignment. Zeiss did offer to repair them for me for a fee but instead I
opted to go with a new pair of Vortex optics since we use those at work and
I have been extremely impressed with their warranty policy compared to
Zeiss.
Anyhow, I now have an excess pair of Zeiss Terra EDs, and while they are in
need of repair, could potentially be used by someone (?). It feels wrong to
just throw them in the garbage, but perhaps that is where they are destined.
If anyone has any suggestions or ideas, please respond to me directly.
Thank you!
-Matt
P.S. - a couple decent birds on Ocracoke this week - Louisiana waterthrush
(rare migrant on the Outer Banks) and a Sargasso shearwater from shore
yesterday afternoon
