Subject: [CALBIRDS] Soliciting North American Birds summer season reports (June-July) for Southern California
North American Birds Contributors:

The Summer Season (1 June to 31 July 2026) has ended, and we solicit
reports for inclusion in the Southern California Region report for *North
American Birds*. Reports should be arranged in the taxonomic order followed
by the American Ornithological Society’s Check-List of North American Birds
and all supplements [available at:
https://checklist.americanornithology.org/ ] or the similar American
Birding Association checklist of ABA area birds [available at:
https://www.aba.org/aba-checklist/ ]. Reports of species on the California
Bird Records Committee’s Review List [see:
https://www.californiabirds.org/checklist.asp ] must be accompanied by
documentation. Similar documentation should also accompany reports of
species unusual for the location or season. Full names, including middle
initials when available, should be used for observers cited in the reports.

Although most of the data for the seasonal reports are gleaned from eBird,
County Compilers (listed below) also solicit additional records and
documentation in whatever ways make the most sense for their region and
pool of observers. Please help them by sending reports to them, especially
if they amplify or add to information already in eBird. County compilers
should receive your reports by 15 August 2026, or reports can be sent
directly to Kimball Garrett at the email address below. The *North American
Birds* regional reports cannot exist without your input.

It’s difficult to send out this reminder without Guy McCaskie’s involvement
(after all he served as the Southern California regional editor for over 60
years!), but we need to move on, and I thank you in advance for your time
and effort.
