I am hearing a far off crying/trembling sound, very faint but I would guess it’s an Eastern screech owl. Last night amid the thunder and storms I thought I heard it as well.
The birds in my yard now bring much comfort. Those that have nested and are rearing young include catbird, robin, cardinal, house wren, chickadee, crows, bluebirds, tufted titmice. Song sparrows, indigo buntings, yellow throats fill the air with their song across the street. Last week I heard an unfamiliar call of a bird outside my front door. It sounded like the scold of a house wren or chickadee, but different. I also believe I saw young with it as they all quickly disappeared. I put on my Merlin app and a marsh wren came up. Although there is a stormwater detention basin with a lot of phragmites growing there I’m not so sure of
the ID…..keeping a sharp look out!
