I, as well as my colleagues watched the puffin yesterday for about 30 minutes on a break from work. It was very close in for a while before diving and popping up about a half mile south of Marina beach around 1:50 PM. We found it with binoculars within 2 minutes upon arriving at the beach. It shuffled south, then north, then back south when it came close in. Less than 75 yards and easily identifiable. There were a lot of boats zipping by and the waves were hiding it at times.
I went back later and found a drone searching for it, low over the water. Flushed and harassed all the gulls in the area while they were at it. Disappointing to witness.
