Rock Springs is a small community NW of Lake Monticello. We stopped at the community center and cemetery around 4:45 this afternoon and observed a Swallow-tailed Kite being harassed by the state bird . There were multiple MIKIs all gleaning insects from the sky. All birds were vocalizing.
My friend spotted it. This is not her first time seeing one. In the nearby community of Rye, she observed two last April.
