I have no experience with the puc; however the original query said the puc can identify birds and bats. I thought I would pass along some general info regarding bat audio for anyone who might be interested.
Bats are especially difficult to identify through automatic detection methods. Accurate identification requires extremely clean recordings of the ultrasonic vocalizations. Ultrasonic sounds reflect from all sorts of surfaces, so clean audio is very difficult to capture. As a result, many if not most recordings result in ambiguous identification.
It is a lot of fun knowing what species of bats might be feeding above your yard but, as with Merlin, treat the results as suggestions.
