Yesterday Mark Bright and I had permission to go into the Coal Oil Point Reserve to survey bees on the north side of the dunes. There was a flock of cormorants on the shore of the lagoon that wouldn't have been visible from the beach. I glassed through them but didn't see anything unusual, but upon seeing a photo that Mark took of the flock, it's apparent there was a diminutive bird amongst the group. The size and proportions look good for Neotropis, but the bird was too distant to pick out other features.
