Marbled Murrelet (Brachyramphus marmoratus) (1) CONFIRMED
- Reported Jul 19, 2026 09:07 by Pair of Wing-Nuts
- Cayucos Pier, San Luis Obispo, California

- Comments: "We moved to this location after observing a Marbled Murrelet from Lucerne Dr. a few minutes earlier, hoping for a closer view. From the end of the pier, we were able to observe the bird much better and clearly see the lighter undertail along with the paler markings on the face, neck, and back. Photographs also revealed a light stripe at the base of each wing that was not visible through the scope. Throughout our visit, the bird remained in the vicinity of the green buoy, slightly closer to shore, where it spent most of its time diving and swimming."

- Comments: "This small alcid was observed approximately 50 yards shoreward of the green buoy, where it spent much of the time preening. Although the bird appeared relatively dark through the scope, over a 30-minute period we were able to get views of the tail, which was frequently held high, revealing a pale undertail. We also noted paler markings on the face, neck, and back."
