Subject: Re: [Tweeters] American Kestrel in Jimi Hendrix Park
Over the winter my wife and I parked in the North parking lot at Discovery
Park and as soon as we walked out of the parking lot onto Texas Way, across
from the restrooms, we noticed the silence. That area is always thick with
bird calls so we suspected a raptor, an owl we hoped. It took us less than
a minute to find it - but to our surprise it was an American Kestrel
sitting in a tree not 25 yards off the road. When we finished our birding
outing, the kestrel was gone and the rest of the birds had started up again.
