I don't have anything to do with running the page, but I do know a thing or
two about running Social Media.

To be seen on social media, you have to have content and engagement. Pages
that post more content get moved up in the algorithm and seen more. Posts
about the ecology camp garner little engagement, while posts about bird
facts and memes get more engagement. Just posting about our irregularly
timed events means that those posts don't get seen. By mixing in some
higher engagement content, all posts get seen more. So posting a meme about
Northern Flicker clothes makes it more likely the information about Ecology
camp will be see by more people and be a more effective advertisement.

Before, only an occasional announcement was being posted and I often
wouldn't see posts until after the advertised event occured. Now, I'm
getting almost all of them in my feed because the page has content for me
to engage with. Previously, the AAS posts were only getting 1 like or
comments if any. Now every post has multiple likes and comments.

I counted the last 10 posts. Slightly more than half were informational.
They all had likes, but the memes had more likes.

Personally, I like the new format and think the social media manager is
doing a good job.
