Subject: [NEBirds] Towhee
Nebraska birders,

I was birding at Mormon Island Recreation Area in Grand Island this morning
when I heard a towhee that sounded like a Spotted but it was not exactly
what I usually hear. I played an Eastern Towhee song and an adult male
towhee immediately flew into the trees above me and acted very agitated.
All I could see was his underside. I paused for a while then played
Spotted Towhee songs and calls. I presume that the same bird flew into the
trees above me again and acted just as agitated as earlier. Once again, I
could only see his underside. I could see a little bit of his wings and I
didn't see any white at all. No wing bars, no white wing patch. I assume
that this bird is a hybrid, as many are in this part of the State. I
entered this bird on my ebird list along with some comments.
