As long as we’re fessing up to problems with birds and vision…In my youth, I spent 7 or 8 years as an ocean lifeguard. There was a guy whose eyesight was, ahem, not all it could have been. In fact, I think he needed to study for the vision test.
Be that, as it may, one sunny afternoon he saw a distressed swimmer waving his arms. That guard blew a run (one long whistle to get the guys from the adjacent beach to cover as he swam out). As he approached the distressed swimmer, his arms became wings and the gull (I’m terrible at gulls and couldn’t tell you what kind) flew off.
Needless to say my colleague had a tough rest of the summer from all of us!
