Each spring as we look for flying jewels, one of the more elusive and most
satisfying to see is the Golden-winged, a species with many threats to its
survival.
SELVA, a bird-conservation non-profit based in Bogotá, Colombia, has
coordinated the nonbreeding side of the Motus projects focused on
Golden-winged Warbler, Cerulean Warbler and Wood Thrush. MBS, Burroughs
Audubon Society, Columbia Audubon Society, and Greater Ozarks Audubon
Society have supported SELVA research <http://www.selva.org.co>. Nick
Bayly, the Director of Migratory Ecology at SELVA, has spoken to these
groups about the projects.
SELVA is conducting a fundraising campaign (ending on July 21) toward
restoring Golden-winged Warbler habitat in Colombia's central Andes,
https://maearth.com/selva-investigacion-p-1a9ffe06/209aaf09. Each donation
is matched by 5:1 or 10:1 by the organization hosting this campaign,
Maearth. Please consider a contribution to these international partners for
this direct conservation action.
