*Vermont Moth Blitz by the Numbers: 2018–2025*

On a warm July night in Vermont, hundreds of people do something most would
find unusual: they leave their porch lights on, set up white sheets in
their yards, and wait. They're counting moths. What started in 2018 with 92
dedicated observers has grown into a statewide effort involving over 300
participants, collectively logging more than 29,000 observations across
700+ species. The Annual Vermont Moth Blitz has quietly become one of the
state's most productive community science programs — and eight years of
data are starting to paint a compelling picture of Vermont's moth diversity.
