The Red Crossbills have been persistent up in Lempster this year. I've been hearing them at Ashuelot Headwaters Forest many times throughout the spring and this afternoon had at least one flyover on Long Pond. Recordings always identify them to Type 12. Another place I have been persistently hearing them is at Fox Forest in Hillsborough while working in the chestnut orchard there (right next to the parking lot). I'm noticing a lot of green cones on the white pines in the area so hopefully they will stick around for a while.
