Ms. Iron Nan,
Give LDWF a chance! Encourage through constructive criticism. I am not sure the House Wren decision was run past the non-game people before the program was finalized.

Thanks, Rosemary and Jay,
If this competition of sorts was created by a person who uses House Wren as a bird that one sees around one's humble abode, I don't want any part of it.

All - I suggest interacting with LDWF's public outreach program headed by Charles (Chuck) Jones who is in Rapides Parish. LDWF did its WMA project in May and it included a House Wren Category for people who chose to bird only their homes. - Jay H.

All,
The last time we did a yard list challenge was during Covid. I was LOS Pres, and Donna Dittmann worked up a spreadsheet and a set of rules for coastal, southern interior, and northern interior zones. Gave us something to do when we couldn’t do field trips. It was over LOS spring weekend and maybe fall weekend, too.
What about a seasonal challenge? Like a sort of yard Christmas Bird Count running from this day to that day, and you submit everything you documented during that time? Could also have Merlin-assisted category and non-Merlin category to keep it fair.
