Subject: [Tweeters] Fly Barb Fly / Owls, Merlins, and more Owls oh my!
I was so sad to hear of Barb Diehl’s passing. I had finally tracked her down just a month prior thanks to the help of Kim McCormick…of Merlin fame! Thank you, Kim!

It was great, while hard, to see Barb in her weakened state. She smiled when we talked about the birds…especially owls and merlins. I always amazed at how she would drive all over to see all she could find.

I first met Barb through a friend of hers (Alison) after meeting her and her dog at a nursery! She told me her friend was on this “owl site” following nesting barn owls in CA. (Molly & McGee) Boy did that take me down a rabbit hole! But Barb took me to see Barn owls at Magnuson and got me onto the Snowies up north during the irruption. Seems like ages ago now. I have a wonderful, silly owl plaque she gave me sitting in the window where I often hear Barred owls in our firs.

But I’ll always hear her Kee Kee Keeing for the Merlins.

Does anyone know if there will be a memorial for Barb? If so, please let me know.

Fly Barb Fly!!

Caryn / Seattle
